The Genesis FlawToday Tonight, The Age...how much better can it get?

I have been blown away by the wonderful media coverage The Genesis Flaw has received. If you missed the story on Channel 7’s Today Tonight (8 Sept) called Drive-By Hacker, follow this link. I’ve been told it’s unprecedented for a debut author to receive such prime time TV coverage! The reviews have been great and for those of you not in Melbourne, click here for a link to a write-up in The Age (28 Aug).

I want to thank you for your emails telling me how much you enjoyed the story. The only complaint so far is that I’m keeping people reading throughout the night, and I’ve made someone miss their train stop because they couldn’t put it down. It means a lot to know my book is entertaining you. And sales are going well: I am ranked No 3 on my publisher’s Bestsellers list. I am hoping The Genesis Flaw will keep selling until Christmas. I would love to see The Genesis Flaw as a Christmas gift!

News from The Brisbane Writers' Festival and The Davitt Awards 2010

I was lucky enough to be asked to speak at three events at The Brisbane Writers’ Festival, and I had an absolute ball.

I met some wonderful readers and awesome authors, like Michael Robotham, Kirsten Tranter and Susan Johnson. The topics of 'how to get published' and 'how an author uses research in the writing process' proved very popular and I was delighted to be able to share my experiences. The Genesis Flaw actually sold out at the festival!

The wonderful Val McDermid (of The Wire in the Blood fame) was at the Festival but I had the chance to meet her the week before at the Davitt Awards. Her crime fiction may be scary in places, but she is the most entertaining, funny presenter I have heard in a long time. I also had the good fortune to sit next to Marianne Delacourt, winner of the 2010 Adult Crime Fiction Award. Congratulations Marianne!

L. A. LarkinSpeaking events October 2010

I have been asked to be keynote speaker at the Australian Society of Archivists 2010 Annual Conference in Melbourne. As an author who does a lot of research to authenticate my novels, I applaud the work archivist do to capture and preserve information. On the evening of 14 Oct I’ll be talking with Carmel Shute, Founder of ‘Sisters In Crime’, about the rise of the environmental thriller, at Readings Bookshop, Port Melbourne. I am so looking forward to it.

If you would like me to speak at your reading group, or do a talk at your office one lunch hour, or if there is a local bookshop you would like me to contact to arrange a signing, please email me at louisa@lalarkin.com

Happy reading!

Best wishes
